My Dear,
I regret that I must write this letter under these circumstances
As much as I loved you
Maybe this just isn’t a world
Where we could have a future together
Maybe we were never meant to
Find one another
Instead, we had merely
Cheated the odds
So out of our hands
Our future has always remained
Regret is the place I will live in
Reminiscing of what could have been
You and I
Once danced through the streets
Of a moonlit city
Completely untouched by the war
Or the tragedy that was to befall us
And tear us apart
Like the first night we met
Our time together was meant to be brief
Vibrant, full of spirit
Even though in another life
We could have been more joyous
Than ever thought possible
But like that first night
And your shining, sparkling soul
Both were gone too soon
