Art Student of the Week – Morgan Landry

Landry draws in her class notebook. Landry has been in the art program since the 8th grade.

Senior Morgan Landry is an artist who fell in love with art in the eighth grade. When moving to North Dakota, she anticipated taking a French class only to find out her new school did not offer one. She proceeded to go out on a limb and take an art class, which she surprisingly enjoyed. She has been in love with creating artwork ever since.

The greatest inspiration in her art career is her group of friends in the program.

“They are all so good at art, even when they think otherwise, and I just try to live up to them,” Landry said.

One of her favorite mediums to work with is acrylic paint. Compared to other types of amazing artwork she creates; she believes that acrylic pieces are her strong suit.

“[Acrylic painting] is one of my better talents,” Landry said.

Landry is a part of the National Honors Society and was moved up to an honors art class in the eighth grade. Art has had a major impact on her life ever since she took her first class in North Dakota.

“Art has given me an outlet to express myself and be creative,” Landry said. “It has become one of my favorite classes and a place I can be free.”

Landry’s decision in middle school to pick an art class has paid dividends for her already and will continue to showcase her talent in the future.

“Art will continue to be a way to express myself and add beauty to my future,” Landry said. “It has given me multiple perspectives on life, and I think that it will be a great skill to move forward with.”
