Twitter is a huge social media platform that many US Presidents have used. Twitter was Trump’s biggest use of communication to the world and US citizens. After two of Trump’s tweets, Twitter made the decision to permanently suspend Trump.  

According to USA TODAY, Trump’s last two tweets violated Twitter’s rules.  

“The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!” (NEWS.COM).  

Twitter believes that his final tweet was made to incite violence. 

“To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th,” Trump tweeted. 

Twitter flagged this tweet as violation of their platform because they believe it could be interpreted as saying the election was not legitimate. The social media platform also believes that this tweet “serves as encouragement to those potentially considering violent acts [at the inauguration because it] would be a “safe” target, [since Trump] will not be attending,” (Twitter).  

Twitter took immediate action after seeing posts about another violent act. Trump reacted by posting on another account (@POTUS) on Twitter. Trump stated his thoughts and said his last words on Twitter. According to TechCrunch, Twitter did not permanently ban this account, but the platform did limit their use.  

“We have been negotiating with various other sites, and we will have a big announcement soon, while we also look at the possibilities of building out our own platform in the near future,” Trump tweeted.
