The varsity baseball team faced Creekview High School in a series of 3 games in the week of Mar. 14 through 18. The team went into the series with a record of 5-7 overall and 3-3 in the region. 

The first game was at home on Monday, Mar. 14. Senior Ryder Moye was the starting pitcher and pitched 6 shutout innings with a total of 9 strikeouts. On offense, senior Jack Enrico led the way, going 2 for 3 with an RBI. Coleman Wylie closed the game out and the Chiefs had their first win of the series with a score of 4-0. 

The second game was at Creekview on Wednesday, Mar. 16.  Senior Adam Brooks was the starting pitcher and pitched 6 shutout innings with 8 strikeouts before Coleman Wylie closed out the game. Senior Brayden Campbell led the way on offense with 2 hits and a run scored. The Chiefs won the second game of the series 4-0. 

After having won the first two games of the series, the team went for the sweep. The third game was back at home, and senior Terry Garmon took the mound. Garmon pitched a complete game shutout with 8 strikeouts. Senior Brayden Campbell had two hits, senior Kolby Kimberley had an RBI triple, and senior Kenskey Thomas hit a 2-run homerun to lead the team to a 6-0 win. 

“This was a much-needed sweep week and a good week for us to build momentum for the rest of the season,” Kimberley said. 

The team improved their record to 8-7 overall and 6-3 in the region. The team plays at Centennial on Monday and Friday and at home on Wednesday. 

“The goals for the rest of the season are to build from this series and win every series from here on out 3-0,” Campbell said. “We want to get a home series for state and win region.”
