Chiefs fall to Chattahoochee in Elite 8
The Chiefs lost to the Chattahoochee Cougars 82-67 last week in the Elite 8 game. The Chiefs finished with an overall record of 24-6 and a 14-2 region record. This was the first time in school history that the basketball team has appeared in the Elite 8. The Cougars now have a record of 23-7 overall and will face off against Tri-Cities in the Final Four.
With a rough start to the game, the Chiefs were down 22-9 at the end of the 1st quarter and were trailing by 17 at the half. However, in the 3rd quarter, the Chiefs outscored the Cougars 26-19 and brought the lead down to 10 points. The Cougars secured the win in the 4th quarter by outscoring us 22-17 and winning by 15.
Senior Jackson Greco had 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists. Junior Ayden Watson was closely behind Greco with 15 points and 7 rebounds.
Even though the Chiefs lost to Chattahoochee, the staff and students of Sequoyah showed great spirit and support to the basketball team on their journey to state. As for the players, 7 of the basketball them played their last game as a Chief.
