GOTW: Sequoyah Chiefs vs Milton Eagles Girls Lacrosse Game

The Sequoyah Girls lacrosse team has a game next Thursday (May 3rd) against Milton. The game is at Milton at 6pm.This game is a state playoff game, after the lady chiefs clinched a playoff spot with a impressive 10-2 win over region rival River Ridge. After the program being created 4 years ago, the Lady Chiefs have made the state playoffs for the first time ever.

This year, The Lady Chiefs are 2-3 in region play. Their first region game, they defeated Sprayberry 12-1. After they started off undefeated in their region, they lost 2 region games in a row against Allatoona and Creekview, 6-4 and 18-4, respectively. Their 3rd and final region loss was a game against Harrison High School, where they lost 18-2. The Chiefs then beat River Ridge 10-2. This put the chiefs 4th in region, just enough to finally make the playoffs. 

The Milton Girl’s lacrosse team is 12-5, while the Chiefs are 10-7. The chiefs leading scorers are Freshman Elizabeth Cooley (49), senior Brianna Bennett (29), and senior Bailee Zietler (21). Sophomore Zoe Carnes leads the team in assists with 20, with Bennett (18) not far behind. Sequoyah’s Goalie, senior Gabby Garner has 136 saves on 244 shots (55.7%).  

Milton is ranked 4th in the state, while the chiefs are 47th. Milton’s national rank is 57th, and Sequoyah’s is 1069th. Come support the Lady Chiefs May 3rd as they play their first playoff game ever.
