GOTW: Sequoyah faces River Ridge in county showdown

The Chiefs’ varsity basketball team will play the River Ridge Knights in a home conference game on Friday, Jan. 18, at 7:30 p.m.

Sequoyah is going into the game with a two-game win-streak and an overall record of 14-4. The Knights have a three-game losing-streak with an overall record of 3-16. The Knights’ last win was against the South Cobb Eagles – with a margin of eight points.

The Chiefs have the home-court advantage and are 7-1 in home games, while River Ridge is 0-9 in away games. Sequoyah’s only loss at home was a 43-point loss against Pope High School.

The Chiefs’ last game was against the Harrison High School Hoyas, where the Chiefs outscored the Hoyas by at least five points in each of the last three quarters and resulted in a win by 24 points.

Sequoyah is ranked at 1,499 in the nation, while the Knights are down at 13,695. The Chiefs also sit at rank 50 within the state, while the Knights are at rank 422. The Chiefs have scored 1,355 total points in previous games, 483 more points than the Knights have scored. Contrary to this, Sequoyah has allowed more points from other teams, albeit only five points.
