GOTW: Sequoyah Men's Golf anticipates match against Cherokee

The men’s golf team for Sequoyah High School has had a successful season this spring. They have only lost two matches so far this season and have collected four wins. They placed fifth in the West Hall Invitational, and seventh in the Grizzly Invitational that occurred on March 31st. Their score was 348 points which was almost thirty points higher than their target team score of 320. They were also very shorthanded that afternoon, missing six of their golfers due to Spring break hiatuses. The four golfers who were present did not score well, but they were able to improve the front nine to the back nine with improvements of 6 to 9 strokes each.

They will compete against Cherokee’s golf team on April 9th at 4:00 pm. In their previous matchup, the Chiefs handed the Warriors a loss. The score was 185-199. The match was very close and was tied after the first two groups had turned in their scorecards. The Chiefs were able to escape the close match because of Thomas Brumbeloe, a junior, who had the lowest score of both teams in the match. This match is very important because both teams are very evenly-matched and are competing for placement in the County tournament which is only five matches away on April 24th.

Thomas Brumbeloe and Ryan Wakefield stand on the golf course after a strong performance. Brumbeloe has been averaging 74 points per 18 holes on the season.
