GOTW: Sequoyah takes on tough season opener against John’s Creek
This Tuesday, the Lady Chief’s soccer team takes on a tough rival, Johns Creek. Last season, the Lady Chiefs went 14-4; however, they lost their game against Johns Creek. It was a close game where the Lady Chiefs only lost by one goal. This season, with the addition of new players and lots of hard work, they are expected to close the score gap. Both Sequoyah and Johns Creek finished high in the rankings. This is a key game for the Lady Chiefs to win in order to boost their confidence and prove they worked hard in the offseason.
The Lady Chiefs are looking for a win this Friday to set the pace for the rest of the season. It is set to be one of the hardest games on the schedule. The Chiefs had a positive season last year with a winning percentage of 77.8% and ranked fifty-eighth in the state. Johns Creek is ranked eighth with a winning percentage of 88.6%. Johns Creek’s national rank is currently at 30th while Sequoyah is at 432nd. Despite the difference in national rankings, the Lady Chiefs are on the run for a win against Johns Creek on Tuesday.
