Sequoyah defeats Cherokee at home

The Sequoyah versus Cherokee game was great victory for the Chiefs. Cherokee, being one of our biggest rivals, was swept off their feet 34-0. Last year the Chiefs lost to the Warriors 21-7. This year, however, they came back ready to win. Wesley Potter had an interception leading to a touchdown for the Chiefs. Junior Cole Jacobs scored three touchdowns, making this one of his best games yet. This was also one as senior Hakeem Hartford’s best games as well, with him getting 12 tackles. The Chiefs’ student section was filled with red, white, and blue with senior TJ White leading it to cheer the team on.
Senior Rebekah Carnes shows her patriotic side as she wears a Statue of Liberty costume and posese next to fellow seniro Elisabeth Dunlap.
Seniors Megan Stinson, Payton Carrol, Katherine Johnston, Hannah Smith, Maddie Doerr,
Cheerleaders cheer on the Chiefs during the first quarter of the game with their megaphones and pom-poms sitting right in front of them.

Sophomore Sophia Stone poses in the crowd, sporting blue glitter along her temples and cheeks, ready to cheer on the Chiefs!
The student section sports all types of red, white, and blue to coincide with the game’s theme.
Team Ben is painted on the field to commemorate the father of senior Annabeth Bedsole who was battling cancer and passed on August 17, 2017.
Mighty Chief (and our Co-Editor-in-Chief) dabs in front of the student section as she continues to get the crowd moving.
